Pensil is a working-class borough in Mexico City, in which I happened to land when I first arrived in the city.

Compared to other neighborhoods in the city, Pensil still kept that authentic Mexican vibe, with their colorful houses and fancy ‘carros antiguos’, vintage American cars that locals restore and proudly drive around the city.

This borough had the scars of past events, either good or bad. The kind of scars that wealthier boroughs try to hide and paint over, thus losing their authenticity.
